Glastonbury Abbey Retreats Program 2025

Glastonbury Abbey's in person only guided retreats will return in the Fall. We have one offering currently available:

A Retreat for Educators - John Hopkins, Obl. OSB

Friday, September 12, 6:00 pm through Sunday, September 14, 1:30 pm

Teachers need teachers. We need to talk to each other, share with each other, listen to each other, and support each other. What better time to do all this than early in the school year, when our leaves are still green with hope and anticipation; when we have yet to feel the exhausting despondency of May and June. As a teacher of over forty years, I have some wisdom to share, but no doubt so do you. And so, share we will, prayerfully and humbly listening to each other. During the weekend, I will also share with you how my Benedictine spirituality has shaped me as an educator, especially regarding maintaining a healthful balance of mind, body, and spirit throughout the school year — never an easy task! I know you know what I’m talking about, so let’s talk about it this September!

Suggested donation $250 per person, includes two nights' accommodation and meals. Online registration is required. Click here to register.

It should be noted that our retreat facility has bedrooms on multiple floors with no lift. Access to some bedrooms may be difficult for those with mobility issues. Please contact* the registrar if you have concerns. Click here for more information or contact the retreat office at *781-749-2155 x300 or email retreats@glastonburyabbey.org.

Through prayer, music, silence, Scripture, and community, we will explore how God’s grace meets us _ not in perfection, but in our real lives.

Come as you are – leave with a heart made ready

An Advent Day of Reflection - The Oblate Community of Glastonbury Abbey

Saturday, December 6, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

As the holy season begins, the Oblates of Glastonbury Abbey invite you to share an “Advent Day of Reflection,” experiencing the monastic prayer tradition of Lectio Divina (sacred reading).  This retreat will include an introduction to the method of Lectio Divina, as an individual and community practice.  Oblates, who live “outside the walls” of the Abbey, will share how they incorporate this tradition into their daily lives.  Time will be spent in individual and/or group Lectio Divina focused on Scripture for the Advent season with opportunity to share as a group.  In addition, all are welcome to sing and pray any of the Liturgy of the Hours and attend Mass with the Oblates and Monks.  Come, join, share this ancient Benedictine prayer practice that befits not only modern-day Benedictine Oblates, but anyone seeking deeper communion with God.  All are welcome.

This program will be in person only.  Suggested donation:  $20.  Lunch will be provided.  Click here to register.
