OBLATE ORACLE
On March 4 Brother Daniel, O.S.B. addressed the Oblates of Glastonbury with a talk titled "Social Justice". An autobiographical sketch of Brother Dan's many years of selfless service to the homeless quickly became an enthusiastic question and answer session. A common note struck was the revelation that those called to serve always felt that they received more than they gave. Saying “Yes” to a call to serve seemed to expand the souls capacity for Grace and then quickly fill it . Thank you, Brother Dan, for an inspiring evening .
On Tuesday, April 1, Oblates Carolyn Carpenter, Tom Gorman and Edith O'Dell each shared their personal journeys as Oblates in our continuing effort to know one another more intimately .
The annual Oblate Day of Recollection has been changed from Sunday, May 4, to Sunday May 25. This year our featured presenter is Celia Sirois who will speak of "The Good News of Easter as Proclaimed in the Gospel of John, letters to Paul and Rule of St. Benedict". All Oblates are asked to bring their Bible .
As another Oblate season draws to an end, our last meeting will be on Tuesday, June 3, and will be a shared Lectio Divina and a social. A Communion Breakfast will be held on Sunday morning, June 22, after Mass and all Oblates are invited .
Steering committee members Dan Buckley, John Daoust and Karin King will be stepping down after two years of selfless service to the Oblates of Glastonbury. Thank you all. Now joining Carolyn Carpenter and Paul Nyce will be Louise De Santis-Deutsch, Dorothy Green and Maura Prouty as the new Steering Committee for next year. May everyone have a safe and blessed Summer.
